court again
Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008 - 9:58 a.m.

Had another court appointment yesterday. Guess what happened? A whole heck of a lot of nothing. Well, that's not completely true. POSdaddy being in the picture still was brought up. The judge stated he is still to have no contact with baby A. He is going to be a factor in whether J gets baby A back if he continues to be in the picture (even if it is off and on). Baby A has to be placed permanently by one year after she was taken from J. That is July 31st. So J's lawyer brought up APR. Not sure what it stands for but (and I'm not sure if I mentioned this before) it would be a situation where J doesn't lose her rights as a parent, but we would have custody of baby A for two years. We would decide when J could visit and if she chould have unsupervised visits, etc. Social services would step out completely. This would go on for two years, then J could petition the courts at that time to get baby A back. J's own lawyer brought that up. Even though J is doing GREAT in all of her treatment, staying clean, etc. everyone fears she will lose her daughter because J chooses to continue to have contact with this person.
So J calls me later and says she is stressed and pissed off because everyone keeps bringing up pos daddy. HELLOOOO! Have you forgotten he was there when baby A mysteriously got bruises and abrasions and bight marks from head to toe???? So she tells me that she is going to have pos daddy call social services and tell them that he is not going to do any of the things the court has told him to do, hoping they will stop bringing him up. It's not about whether he is or isn't doing what the courts said. It's the fact that YOU continue to have this person in your life when the court is telling you he either needs to do these things or be out of the picture completely. She just doesn't quite get it. She was plenty upset when the brought up the APR scenario. Hopefully this is the eyeopener and she kicks this boy to the curb once and for all. Probably not, though. I know that.

Going to court is always stressful and sad. I have a hard time sitting there watching these people allow their children to slip from their fingers. However, yesterday there was a couple there that I had seen before. They had gotten their daughter back three months ago, but social services still had official custody. They have done everything they were asked to do, and have a beautiful baby girl to show for it! She was so happy with mommy, it was wonderful to see that they worked hard to fix anything they had to in order to keep their daughter. They won the battle yesterday and walked out with full custody of their beautiful baby. It was nice to see a success story for a change.

Back to court again in May.
